We will offer community-based seminars that lead to improvements in the health, safety and well-being of children and their families on the West Side of Chicago. Current focus areas include asthma, nutrition, obesity, HIV, STD's, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, cancer, and oral health. We will also offer free Zumba fitness sessions.
Family Destiny NightDuring Family Destiny Night we we will offer a variety of family friendly events (movies, comedy night, plays, games) on a weekly basis. Each event is integrated with a Destiny theme in which our prophetic team shares words of encouragement and "call out the gold" in their life. SozoSozo 1 a: to save b: to heal c: to deliver 2: to save a suffering one, to make well, heal, to deliver from penalties of the Messianic judgment
The Sozo ministry is a unique inner healing and deliverance ministry in which the main aim is to get to the root of those things hindering your personal connection with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This includes, but is not limited to depression and anxiety, anger, abuse, and addictions (i.e. drugs, sexual). Our ministry team will offer Sozo sessions to our neighbors through-out the West Side of Chicago. Worship & Soaking
We will have open times during the week for those who would like meet to worship and soak (the process of becoming softened and saturated in the presence of God), renewing and repairing areas of their life- physical, spiritual, or emotional.
| Spiritual Development
We will offer Spiritual Development Workshops which challenge individuals to grow and understand the Bible in greater depth. These workshops will: 1. Provide answers about applying God's Word to your life 2. Help identify areas that hinder you from your purpose 3. Challenge and help facilitate your spiritual growth 4. Provide Biblical based words of encouragement 5. Help develop leadership skills and Godly character.
Some of the topics covered will include: Spiritual Disciplines, Role of Contemplative Prayer, Fruit of the Spirit, Faith vs. Fear, and Holy Spirit and you. We will also offer marriage enrichment sessions that focus on premarital dating and courtship, improving listening skills, finding balance in life, dealing with stress, finding time for the relationship, assertiveness, attitudes toward money, attitudes toward child care, negative relationships, conflict resolution, and forgiveness. Saturday Academy & Friday Night Live
We will offer a Saturday Academy to challenge 20 elementary school students (10 boys/10 girls) with significant life hardships, barriers and obstacles to reaching their full potential. This Academy will do this by motivating, educating, supporting students to do what they once only dreamed of and thought was impossible. We have designed a program with three core components: Leadership Development
Age appropriate workshops to develop a positive self-image include decision-making, integrity, healthy living and peer pressure / resistance. Science
Using an interdisciplinary approach that combines biology, chemistry, and physics, students are challenged with a curriculum rich in problem solving, developing a question using the scientific approach, creating steps to yield a solution, and conducting hands-on experiments. Critical Thinking and Decision Making Students learn how to play the game of chess while developing their spatial visualization, geometry, verbal aptitude, and logic. Friday Night Live (FNL) is a weekly event for high school youth on the West Side of Chicago. It will have elements of poetry/spoken word, hip-hop, drama, video and Biblical teaching that is culturally relevant. FNL is a safe place for students to share community and build accountability. It is also designed to build a valuable foundation of what it means to follow God with their lives.. |
