Ministry Shares Program

Our mandate is to strengthen individuals, build families, and serve our community- The West Side of Chicago!

Once a thriving and vibrant part of Chicago, the West Side of Chicago was home to physicians, lawyers, teachers, dentists, and other professionals. However, during the riots of the late 1960's and early 1970's, homeowners and businesses fled the West side communities known as Garfield Park, Austin, Lawndale, and Humboldt Park. In their place came poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, violence, gang activity, and racial segregation. All of which lead to the deterioration of families.

An examination of Garfield Park community schools reveal that in our neighborhood High School 0% of students exceeded the state standards, and only 41% of freshmen graduated within 5 years (CPS Scorecard, 2007-08).
In 2005, the poverty rate on Chicago's Westside was 33%, with an unemployment rate of 15% (American Community Survey, 2005).
In 2005, median household income of the Westside was $29,900 and 65.4% of families were female-headed (American Community Survey, 2005).

The Ministry Share Program is a partnership tool that allows our friends in the ministry to make an financial investment into our vision and impact our community with the Gospel of Christ. It has a similiar concept to buying stock, but you are sowing financial seeds directly into someone's life. Ministry Shares can be purchased at $20 a share in which 100% of every dollar invested goes directly towards the following:

5 Ministry Shares (or $100) provides one youth with the necessary training and supplies to provide health screening /resources for 15 at- risk- adults.
18 Ministry Shares (or $360) supports our community fellowship efforts to provide nutritious meals after church to local families.
50 Ministry Shares (or $1000) provides 4 months of educational support for twenty 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in our Saturday Enrichment Program (Human Biology, Math, and Chess) in the North Lawndale Community.
100 Ministry Shares (or $2,000) supports our summer 2010 outreach efforts in the Garfield Park/North Lawndale Community.
250 Ministry Shares (or $5,000) supports the development and launch of our Children's Ministry- Covenant Kids.
